Congratulations to the varsity softball team for an exciting come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Section 4 champion Horseheads High School in the state’s regional finals, on June 2.

Alayna Savaglio and the Warriors found themselves in unfamiliar territory right away, falling behind on a single followed by a two run homer by the first two Horseheads batters. Remarkably, Alayna quickly returned to form, not allowing another hit for the remainder of the game.

The score stayed 2-0 until the sixth inning when Jayda Roman had a two strike, two out double to score Alex Schoellig and Arianna Guarracino and tie the score at 2. The next inning was textbook Minisink softball. With one out in the seventh, Kaelyn Flanagan singled, Aubrey Ketcham moved her to second with a perfect sacrifice bunt, and Kourtney Ketcham drove her in with clutch two out double. With Alayna Savaglio mixing her pitches expertly, Horseheads went down in order in the bottom of the 7th for the Minisink win.

The Warriors move on to play the West Regional Champion l, Victor High School, in the NYS Championship semi-final round on Saturday, June 9, at 9 a.m at Moreau Recreation Park in Glens Falls.

Good luck, and go Warriors!
